Unity Tutorial 06

Unity Tutorial Week 6

While I was doing this tutorial and I will not lie to you I found it very complicated because of the fact that I had a lot of coding to do but I found it very beneficial in order for me to learn and improve with my skills so I thought that I would have to change my approach with this tutorial assignment as I have always been using DreamWeaver I was finding it very difficult and frustrating so I changed my software to Visual studios.
This is the new software that I have moved to because it is very easy to use and it auto-fills the coding for you when you are stuck plus it is free to download.
The game that I was working on required me to make a 3d game that was essentially a man that had to jump up and down and avoid the obstacles while also making the background move seamlessly to give the illusion that the world around the character was moving. I also had to make sure that when the character hit one of the objects cause a "Game Over" the whole world would come to an immediate stop.
This was a quick little screenshot of how the game looked when you played it while I was running it in Unity. (As you can see the object was in the air but this screenshot was before I solved the problem)

I think that the game was a huge success because even though I faced a few problems I was able to overcome it and get all of the scripts working which really boosted my confidence and encourages me to continue my journey to become a better game developer

Unity Tutorial 05

Unity Tutorial 05

I found this specific tutorial that we had to do very fun to do however there was a few problems that I found during the assignment that made it strikingly difficult. For one I was working through the unity and the first 2 were going well however I always use Dreamweaver as a way to script when I get to the scripting part of the assignment but I was getting some issues with the script that I do not normally get problems that I can not fix but because the problem was hard and I did not know where I messed up it took a looooooong time to go back and find where I screwed up. I figured it out eventually but it thought me to be careful when looking through scripts because it is very frustrating when you are in a good mood and you are close to finishing the assignment.

This is a little bit of how the assignment looked while I was trying to figure it out but I was able to fix the script at the end which I was very proud of because it took me 2 days to finally be able to get through when I was about to give up.

I think that the assignment would have to be the most challenging by far because of the scenario that I had to bypass was the most challenging as I was to far into the tutorial when my game starting to have notification of how my game was not working correctly.
This is a screenshot of all the different scripts from all of the different tasks I had to do.

Reading 4

Reading 4

I think that this week 4 reading would have to be the most stressful and toughest work by far because I had to do a lot of  research because you could start filling things out. I had to go on the internet and find out different sites with journals or peer review after going through all the information I had to summarize the information and figure out if it had the information that benefits me in the article.

Once I founds the information I had to put the information into the Matrix such as:

  • Thesis
  • Primary Source
  • Research Questions
  • Limitations
  • Strengths
  • Significance

When I was researching my task I realized that my questions are very broad which made it very hard for me to look for information and narrow it down which meant that some of the information that I was researching was not relevant.

This is the Matrix that I had to put the information that was researched into.

When I was in trying to research the information I had to simplify my requirements so that I knew that the information was always on track.
This is notes I took to help me know the kind of information I am looking for and remembers that the information should be relevant

I wish that the questions I picked were not so broad because I really have nothing to work off of because of how much information comes up in the search.

Unity Tutorial 04

Unity Tutorial 04

In this weeks unity tutorial I think that it was very challenging because of the fact that there was a lot more code and I was trying to get my head around how the codes for duplication of the items and the trigger for input but I was able to figure it out after going back over the video a few times because I noticed that I was not typing the code correctly. I did enjoy the tutorial because it was very simple the follow and fun to do but the overflow of information had me overwhelmed but I was able to manage the whole process.

This is just a screenshot of the script that I had to follow

Here is more screenshots of the script that I had to follow that I struggled in the most because of the changes that had to be made.

Even though I had a struggle and I was a lot of effort and time to figure it out I was very happy that I got though the whole tutorial and everything was working fine and deleting as soon as it left the screen.
Here is the final result that I was proud I got it completed because it came out pretty well.

Unity Tutorial 03

Unity Tutorial 03

I really did enjoy the tutorial about the car and how we had to make everything using the assets. I found the objective at hand very difficult because of the amount of coding that I had to try get my head across but as the time went on and I was struggling to figure out where I went wrong on parts of the code I can honestly say that I have learned from my mistakes and even understood how some of the coding language was done. I think the most hardest part of the game making for me was having to go back over the tutorials when I missed a step or maybe did not make a cap in cap appropriate moments.

This is a screen shot of the First task that had to be done because of the tutorial
This was the second part on the assignments that I had to make

In conclusion I would just like to say that I thought it would be easier because of how I flew last year but I have started to realize that it is not all about the software and how familiar you are with it. I think that once you take the time to learn how the structure is done and how you can have your own method it make your workload and mindset a lot easier.

Reading 3

Doing your research

Planning your approach

I had to go and pick two topic and then I had to write about it but before all of that I had to do some research and it was all based around the 2 choices that I made. I had to find some good reliable information for example journal or a book or even the internet. When I have found the information I had to check that any piece of information that was from the source would have some relevant answers to my questions that I have chosen. I also had to go and find the references and put them all in the review matrix.

This is the different kind of steps that I had to go through while reading to come up with questions that would give me more information to go off with and reseach

My thoughts on the Approach

I am finding it very hard because the information is a lot to take into account and handle and I am not able to figure out if the information that is needed is relevant to the choices that I have picked. I am also a little bit out of my element when it comes to this kind of research because I have never done anything like this at all.

Unity Tutorial 02

Unity Tutorial 02

Today I was working on a project car 3d platform game. I had to download the assets and I had to some how make the car move forward toward the crates but I also had to add a script to control the speed while maintaining the realistic motion of having the crate fly away once the Vehicle had made contact with the crate. I would also like to add that I was able to slightly understand what they mean by cleaning up a code so that It can be more appealing to the eyes and having a bit of structure to it.

This is a image of the game in Progress.

This is an image of code that we had to make in order to make the game work.
I have learned a lot today from watching the video because I was able to go and refresh my memory of all the different handle shortcuts and I have also learned a new few tricks that I didn't know or may have missed out on. I found that it is very hard to make a game and that it would be very much a beneficial idea to have teams and roles when it comes to making big multiplayer games across the world.
