Reading 3

Doing your research

Planning your approach

I had to go and pick two topic and then I had to write about it but before all of that I had to do some research and it was all based around the 2 choices that I made. I had to find some good reliable information for example journal or a book or even the internet. When I have found the information I had to check that any piece of information that was from the source would have some relevant answers to my questions that I have chosen. I also had to go and find the references and put them all in the review matrix.

This is the different kind of steps that I had to go through while reading to come up with questions that would give me more information to go off with and reseach

My thoughts on the Approach

I am finding it very hard because the information is a lot to take into account and handle and I am not able to figure out if the information that is needed is relevant to the choices that I have picked. I am also a little bit out of my element when it comes to this kind of research because I have never done anything like this at all.

Unity Tutorial 02

Unity Tutorial 02

Today I was working on a project car 3d platform game. I had to download the assets and I had to some how make the car move forward toward the crates but I also had to add a script to control the speed while maintaining the realistic motion of having the crate fly away once the Vehicle had made contact with the crate. I would also like to add that I was able to slightly understand what they mean by cleaning up a code so that It can be more appealing to the eyes and having a bit of structure to it.

This is a image of the game in Progress.

This is an image of code that we had to make in order to make the game work.
I have learned a lot today from watching the video because I was able to go and refresh my memory of all the different handle shortcuts and I have also learned a new few tricks that I didn't know or may have missed out on. I found that it is very hard to make a game and that it would be very much a beneficial idea to have teams and roles when it comes to making big multiplayer games across the world.

Reading 2

Planning your approach

In this weeks assignments I had to plan how I wanted to approach this assignments I thought it would be a very simple and easy decision to make but I realized that I was very wrong because I had to go thought a list of question and choices on google docs. I had a lot of different categories to choose from.

I have picked the Category :

The questions that I decide to picked out the category was:

  • What is a Game Designer
  • Game Design Team Roles

I was trying to decide how I wanted to restructure my chosen questions. So I came up with

"What are the Importance of a Game Designer"

"Are roles in Game Design Needed"

I was also tried to organize  my folder to make it more easy for me to know where everything is and keep to as tidy as possible so that when I was to get my information I know that I have checked certain websites and got information that may or may not benefit me in the long run

This is the Folder.

This is a picture showing that After I had to make a more refine way of phrasing my questions I went to look thought a lot of different sources.

Unity Free Tutorials

Looking through tutorials

This tutorial looked very easy to begin with and I was really looking forward to making my works looks a lot more crisp and clear so you can see it from a distance without the text becoming all fussy and unclear and when I was following the tutorial I had to install an asset to help make things easier and have some font family which would really accompany my game in the theme I am going for but instead after the installation it had a big error. I am now unable to play my game or input the crisp text that I wanted to have.

I was really trying to make some platforms that move and maybe go side to side but for now all I wanted is for the part to go 360 at a slow speed making the game harder and based more on skill instead of a 50/50 chance. I think it would also more as some parts that could push you off the map as well as a path that you can move on.

Well that is all I have for you guys for now but I hope you have enjoyed the blog I also hope my game start working soon wish me luck!

Games Testing

Games Testing

It is important to have nobody around you when you want to give your own personal feedback
Source Image Here
When it comes to testing a game whether it be your own game or someone else, you have to be truly honest with yourself. There is a word that comes to mind when you have your own opinion that will help better someone elses project and that word is called "Criticism". I think that when you testing or reviewing I should say, somebody elses game it is important to have brutal honestly. It really does help the person in the long run before the finished project because they will be able to listen to what you said and make the decision by himself if he would like to add it in or leave the change that he currently has in his own game.

I believe personally that the best form of criticism is an unbiased one because it is free of the individual opinion and your peers personal taste.

You  may be wondering... HOW DO I GIVE GOOD FEEDBACK

Well I have a few example of good Criticism and bad ones

Good Example

I like the menu you picked for your shooter game but I feel like your text should not be in a bubble font unless you are making it for the target audience of 5+

Bad Example

I don't like your game its not fun at all

My Game Development Update

My Game Development

I am trying to figure out how I would like the movement of my game to move because of how efficient and simpler it would be for people to understand it. So far my game is playable and you are able to slowly increase in speed if you want to make it to the next stages. I am trying to find a way to make my player rise up faster and have the background stars show different color to show that the difficulty has changed.

The only problem that I am having a problem with, was to figure out how I would like my game to work to have a certain 3D platform feel.
